Anywho, it’s been a while since I last posted, I know. The latest:
We finally did the closing for our mortgage refinancing yesterday. What a relief! We waited for a couple of months for this to finish. We were told that the old mortgage company was giving the new mortgage company a hard time in “letting us go”, that’s why it took so long. Oh well, good riddance to the old mortgage company. We never liked them and their service. Let’s just hope this new one will give us some breathing space.
Last Sunday, Luci and I reaffirmed our faith and became members to a Presbyterian church in Dallas. The members are really heart-warming and friendly, and I must say that I already felt like part of the church family when we started attending regularly the last few weeks of May. We’ll be having Dani’s baptism there on the 3rd week of July.
My sleeping schedule is still a little out there. I don’t really remember when I feed the baby at night and going back to sleep again. When Dani is 2 months next week, I’ll have to be strict in setting the sleeping hours for both of us. Or else I’ll be groggy all the time when I return to work in August.
Well, that’s it for now. I know it’s short, but that’s all the fun stuff that’s happened lately.
Seems a lot has been happening lately, no?
Anyway, Lucien discovered yesterday after the big storm that came through that there was a leak by one of our bathrooms. He called our insurance agent right away, who recommended a specialist to come by to check it out.
So, the guy came by and we found out the there was a hail and structural damage on our roof. He said that he will need to change the whole roof for a new one.
Things worked out pretty well, considering that the dude was willing to pay off our deductible if we let him put his sign up on our lawn for a given time. And, of course, the insurance pays off the cost so we pay nothing from our pockets.
The adjuster will be coming in tomorrow to survey how much damage our roof really has.
In other news, I just got the mail from Homeland Security telling me that I’m going on for my citizenship interview on January 25th. Woohoo! :)
I know it’s been a while, just been busy, but I wanted to share this anecdote. Here goes.
Me: Babe, that lightbulb over the toilet is out.
Babe: No, it’s not. I just used it three days ago.
Me: It’s been out for weeks! (I turn on a switch, and point up.) See?
Babe: That’s not the right switch. (Turns on another switch behind the door.) See?
Me: Ah! I never noticed that before. Well, because I had the door open all the time, so it’s well hidden.
Babe: Uh-huh. Well, I discovered it a few days ago while I was taking a dump. Like this: (makes an groaning noise and strikes a pose, while reaching out for the switch) “What is this switch?”
Don’t know if that was funny, but I was practically in tears of laughter watching Lucien doing it. :D Lucien just cracks the hell outta me. ;)
Back at work. I got better sometime yesterday, but somehow, today, I still felt a little dizzy and out-of-sorts. Apparently, this ‘bug’ has affected a few of my co-workers as well. It’s a weird sort of ‘bug’ going on.
Anyways, yesterday, Lucien came home late. He had worked more than 12 hours! I’m so amazed that he could stay awake for a few more hours. But after taking a bath, he passed out eventually. :)
We went out for a little drive to my mom’s house a few hours later, to pick up the last of our stuff that still remained in our little garage apartment. My mom has been doing some renovations in the apartment and everything was a mess. It looks like it’s going to turn out good in the end, just no idea when it will be done.
Got home, and we started lounging in our cozy living room, and we decided to do a jigsaw puzzle in the Game Room. We started calling the other bedroom the Game Room now, because for the past two housewarming parties we’ve had, the kids have stayed in this room playing Playstation games, puzzles, board games, etc. So, it was dubbed as the Game Room.
Anyways, during the jigsaw puzzle, we have watched 4 VHS movies to keep ourselves occupied. And, of course, we haven’t finished the 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle yet.
It doesn’t matter, we have all the time in the world.
1. I have a sore throat from yesterday.
2. Talked to a friend back in old college days I haven’t seen in years on the phone day before yesterday.
3. I’ve had fun riding the train to work for the past couple of days.
4. We still haven’t finished unpacking from last week. *groan*
This weekend should be coming along great. Two housewarming parties to go to! Oi.
It’s been pretty boring lately, but I can’t complain. Everything’s “as good as it gets”. (Beware: the next paragraphs sound like a bored commentator in a chess game tournament.)
Last Saturday’s house blessing was a blast. Things were a little rushed at first, as I struggled with procrastination trying to get things ready for the guests. I moped around the computer, did a little bit of cleaning and started skewering my barbecue by 10am.
Around 11am, I still wasn’t done with the barbecue sticks. I also still had to deal with the sinigang for my mom before she came in. I was actually boiling the water for the soup when my mom came in.
As we started getting food ready, we realized that we didn’t have enough plates for the guests. I had to leave a message to Lucien to get some before he comes home.
This was also the first time to use the barbecue grill, so out I went to try it out. Boy, the barbecue was really good. Too bad it was cooked too soon before the guests arrived. My mom thought it would be wise to put some hotdogs on the grill as well for the kids that will be coming in. We put some corn in as well.
Lucien came just in time before the guests came in and thought it would be great to have our games out for the kids, to keep them entertained. So, he took out our old Playstation console and some other board games.
So, the guests started arriving. My friends were kind enough to help out in the cooking and preparing. One of my friends’ husband was nice enough to take over the barbecue grill for me so I can get the other stuff ready.
The house blessing itself was divine. I was actually touched from all the love I felt within the house…where everybody, including the kids, participated. I thought it was perfect.
I had a good time socializing with some friends I haven’t seen in a long time. It’s been nice reminiscing about past events and how we have progressed throughout the years. It was a shame that everybody had to leave after a few hours.
My mom and another close friend stayed behind and helped clean up. It was nice to know that there are some people you can rely on. We relaxed by the patio afterwards with some jazz music and coffee. All in all, it was a good day.
Good news for today: we finally got our cable internet going. Whee! :)
First off, thanks for the birthday greets, ya’ll! Much, much appreciated. :)
I took the day off yesterday to spend my birthday with my family. Lucien totally forgot that the lunch/dinner was supposed to be at 4pm, so we rushed here and there. My sister came in early, my brother-in-law came in from work, and my mom was almost an hour late. In any case, we enjoyed our Pancit Malabon, Crispy Pata, and Kare-Kare. We also had Macapuno ice cream and champagne cake. All in all, it was all good. It was also fun hanging out with family in our house.
Tommorrow will be a little hectic because that’s when we’ll have our house blessing. Always gotta have that. We invited family and a few close friends, to make it small and quaint. Hopefully we can throw a bigger bash soon, but for now, it will do.
That’s about it for now. Later, gater!
Yes, I’m alive and kicking. The weekend was, well, quiet. Too quiet. Spending the weekend without any electricity was quite a challenge. But then, it felt just right, the weather was great, and I got to spend all my time with Lucien. It’s nice to have no electricity once in a while. The only inconvenient thing about it was that some of our food that we put in the refrigerator got spoiled. Anyway, electricity should be up sometime today, though it wasn’t up yet when I left for work.
Our neighborhood is pretty quiet, and there are a lot of places that are close to us, which is very convenient. We haven’t met much of our neighbors, but they seem to know that we have moved in. To those of you who don’t know, we live in a cul-de-sac, so pretty much everybody knows everybody.
I’m happy to say my little digicam works as a webcam, but only on MSN Messenger. I used it to talk to my friend, Jamie, and we had a blast just goofing off. She’s DJing today on Raver Radio, and I’m just happy for her. Must be fun. :)
I think that’s all for today.
We’re finally moved in our new house!
No electricity till the 5th.
No phone till the 8th.
Water is working.
Furniture all set up.
House blessing/housewarming on the 10th.
Oh, my aching feet!
