Houses, Music and Poems

We were going to do house closing today, but for some reason, our lending bank has screwed up on paperwork, putting a higher interest rate than we originally planned.

Our loan officer has been on their asses all day yesterday and was able to get the paperwork fixed, but our closing won’t be until Thursday. That day is better for both Lucien and I anyway, as we are both on our day off. We are kinda worried about our fridge/W/D delivery, because it will be for tomorrow. Hopefully, we can just call them and hold it for another day.

It was fun listening in to Jamie‘s Devilkiss Radio. She is basically playing it through her computer and everybody can listen in. Nice. We also talked about DJing for Nexus events like carnages, and such. That would be cool to see.

Also talked to Jennifer last night. I was honored that she let me read her poem. I did a few minor corrections, but overall, it was a good read. I also felt what she was trying to express in the poem. I said I was honored, because she mentioned that she never shared her writings. :)

Active Weekend

Well, then, we did have a pretty active weekend.

Saturday, Lucien and I decided to watch a movie after he took a nap from work. Actually, 3 movies. Scooby Doo 2, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, and Jersey Girl. The first one was definitely for kids, the second one didn’t do the first Dirty Dancing justice, the third one was a definite favorite. I cried so much in Jersey Girl it was pathetic. I’m glad that I wasn’t the only one sniffling in the movie theatre.

All the while we were watching movies, I kept checking my watch, worried that Lucien might go to work late, or that we might have to go home early for Lucien to get ready for work. Little did I know that he was off for the weekend! He didn’t tell me until we were into the 3rd movie. Well, I was certainly glad that he was off, because we were able to enjoy the movies more and spending time together.

Sunday, we woke up early but stayed being lazy until we were going to meet up with our real estate agent for the final walk through in the house. We met the old house owners and talked about the ins and outs of the house. We were getting excited and the previous owners are very nice and accommodating.

After that, we went to Sears to take a look at some refrigerators, washers and dryers, as those were the ones we needed for the house. We were well into our budget so we decided to buy them then and there. We picked good ones, too. They’ll be delivering them on Wednesday.

So, it’s been a pretty hectic, but relaxing weekend. Lucien and I were able to exercise also, with our bikes and walking the dog around the neighborhood. I must say it was a satisfying weekend.

Things Are Not What They Seem

Okay, since Jamie asked, no, ragged on me, to update, here I am.

House update: we go back to the house on Sunday to do another walk-thru to check if everything’s good to go. And then on Tuesday, we’re going to the title company to sign some papers, and that’s also the day we do the closing. Thursday is the official day we move. So, it’s going to be a hectic few weeks.

Another full weekend ahead of me. Most likely we’ll be doing some more packing and what not.

I’m a little bit stressed on Tuesday, though. Because Lucien doesn’t get off until 3pm, and I have to get to work at 3pm, so when can we really get to go to the title place together to sign papers? So, I’ll have to go in late to work on that day so we can do it. I just hope my co-workers won’t mind.

That’s pretty much it. Blah, blah, blah.

House Update

So, we have talked to our loan officer and everything looks good. We might even be able to move in Monday next week. I’m so excited! Lucien has already has half of the house packed up. All we’re waiting now is to have the title company call us to pick up our keys. :D

Lucien and I rode our bikes, and went cruising around our new neighborhood last weekend. Conveniently enough, about 2 minutes away is a grocery store, a movie rental place, dry cleaners for Lucien’s uniforms, and even a library! Very nice. Oh, as for restaurants, there’s a Braum’s, a Cici’s Pizza and a Subway. There is also a nice lake about 3 miles from the house.

Here’s our darling house:

House And Work

*groan* Lucien has started packing already! In result, he accidentally packed some bills that I need to pay this week, my home computer, lots of books, etc. *groan* And we really don’t have room enough to spare for the boxes.

I’ve been sorta busy playing another MMORPG called Redmoon. I only have a 10-day free trial on it, so I’m trying to make the most of it. It’s fun, and it reminds me of the Fallout series. So yeah, that’s mostly what’s been keeping me busy. :P

Work has been pretty good, at least on my end. The 3rd Shift people are at it again, things not being done or not getting done. *sigh* Have been re-writing our policies and procedures also, as they have given us a new format. We have an intranet site that helps document these, but I don’t have enough free leeway as I do on my other sites, so I’m thinking of making another place to access the documents…of course, it has to be a secure one, as it is for our eyes only.

More on the house. It’s funny how people keep asking what progress we have had on the house, when I can’t really tell them anything because there is no progress, until we get the couple out of the house and we can move in. Insurance and mortgage stuff is Lucien’s end, so I’m letting him take the lead on that. So, what do I tell people how we are doing on the house? NOTHING.

We finally did the taxes. I know it’s pretty late, cuz I was kind of procrastinating on that. Unfortunately, this is the first year where we actually owe the IRS something. Yikes! :(

Well, enough for now. Gosh, my life is boring. :P

Almost Moving In…

Okay, time for another update!

Things are going well for the house we’re going to get. We are currently talking about some minor repairs on the house and what not. We will be living in Irving, about 10 minutes away from Dallas. Lots of locations that look promising that are near us, including a train depot station where I can take to go to work! Whee! :)

If all goes well, we will be able to move at the end of this month. Lucien is already making lots of plans on what we are going to do. I am making my own plans myself.

Other stuff to think about: transferring my name from utility bills to my mom’s, packing up our things, cancelling my DSL :/ (don’t worry, I’ll have it hooked up again at our new house :D), and other last-minute changes.

That’s pretty much it.

Hm…I think it may be right.

Other matters: we had a home inspector survey the house we’re looking at. I know we finally got a house, but it’s still not sinking in. Maybe I’m just waiting until we do the closing. ;)

More on Houses

Another exhausting day yesterday for house hunting. We found another good house and set up the paperwork for it. Good news is our agent says that we were able to place the bid on it and our mortgage person is asking us to fax some information for him. Yay! I think we will be able to get the house this time. :) I’m still a little apprehensive though, because there are still a lot of “what ifs”. Maybe when we get the closing done, I’ll breathe a sigh of relief.

Getting the house means that I have to have my mom take over paying the utility bills for the house we’re staying in right now. This also means I might have to cut sending money to my sisters in the Philippines. This means more bills…Lucien’s stressed out because of it, but I’m trying to just take it one day at a time. Thinking about money problems just gives me a headache.

Everything’s pretty much the same. Get up, go to work, go home, blah blah blah. It’s boring. It takes me to auto mode. Been doing a little bit of soul searching as well.

This Friday, though, I’ll be attending a friend’s wedding. I have not seen her since Spanish class back in 1998. We still email each other occasionally, but that’s it.
